COMPLEMENTARY AND SUPPLEMENTARY GENE INTERACTION

GENETIC ; NON-ALLELIC GENE INTERACTION

1. COMPLEMENTARY GENE INTERACTION

In this  interaction two non-allelic gene regulates one character and both are complementary of dominant form of character dominant allele of both the gene must be  present together in a genotype and absence of any one dominant allele will produce recessive expression

example ; flower colour in sweet pea ( lathyrus odoratus )
colour flower is  dominant and colourless flower is recessive

Raw material combine with enzyme 'c ' to form  chromagene. chromagen combine with enzyme 'p' to form anthocyanin. Colour shows when gene C and P are in dominant form. when any one gene are  recessive flower show  colourless.

9 - C_P_ only that gene shows coloured flower
3 - C_pp, 3- ccP_,1 - ccpp are colorless flower do to complementary gene interaction
the ration of coloured and colourless flower in 9:7

2.SUPPLEMENTARY GENE INTERACTION

In this interaction of two non-allelic gene one has its usual dominant and recessive expression while the other gene is called as supplementary gene. when dominant allele of supplementary gene comes with the dominant allele of first gene /other , it will changer or supplement its expression but this will not happen with recessive allele

example :  coat colour in mice

When  A_B_ show Agouti colour, when A_bb annd aabb shows Albino
, aab_ show black coat colour of mice .
